On the island of Isla Dama, biologist Nathan Phipps is working for the U.S. military on a project designed to increase the world's food supply. Instead, what grew was a Komodo dragon with a taste for human flesh. Those not eaten by the massive dragon are poisoned by its saliva, turning them into murderous, zombie-like creatures. Phipps and his assistant Dawn plan an escape along with Jack, a pilot who had crashed his helicopter on the island. It's a race between them, the dragon and a flight of Navy bombers under orders to blow the island out of existence.
